Fathers and pregnancy

By admin | November 17, 2007

There are literally hundreds of books written about pregnancy, but very little about fathers and pregnancy. The reason why is yet another story.

Most fathers don’t actively participate in this period of their spouses’ life, even though it’s extremely important to be there for her when she is pregnant.

But also, there are fathers who take pregnancy very seriously, with enthusiasm and genuine joy. You will recognize those fathers as they like to use that famous phrase ‘we are pregnant’.

Fathers and pregnancy questions

How can I as a father help?

Be there for her, you can help a lot if you just support her verbally. Share your thoughts with her. Let her know how much you enjoy watching her belly grow.

This is very important as most women think that they are less attractive. Prove her wrong. Tell her how beautiful she is.

Kiss her, be romantic.

Don’t distance yourself from her in any way. This will show her that you are there and that she is not alone.

Take her to the doctor’s, share those moments with her. Ask questions about her pregnancy and everything related, educate yourself, read about fathers and pregnancy.

It would be fun for you if you could write a diary about your wife’s pregnancy, or maybe even open a blog or take her pictures as her belly grows.

Should I change my life style?
Yes, you should. Especially if your spouse is developing the habit of eating healthy and exercising.

It could be helpful not only to her but your unborn baby and your spouse if you try to follow her example.

If you smoke this is a good time to quit. Don’t drink alcohol.

Have a walk with your partner from time to time, enjoy the time you spend with her.
