Traits of a leader

If you want to lead others, you should first learn how to lead yourself. Conquering yourself is your biggest and most important victory. And also it’s the most important of all traits of a leader.
If you lack the ability to lead yourself don’t read the rest of this article, because it won’t help you at all.
When asking themselves what do all great leaders have in common people often say it’s their ability to influence people.
But that’s only the surface of exceptional leadership. The source lays somewhere else. The influence on people, is derived from their ability to follow their vision.
Some of you would even laugh if I call all the world’s greatest leaders dreamers. But that’s their essence.
Great leaders of today and those who are gone long ago dare to dream, and fight for their dreams. Which leads us to the first trait of a leader.
Winston Churchill: Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.
Vision
Leaders are the people with a clear vision about the future of their group. It does not matter which group , it can be a small group like a family or it can be a country with 100 million people.
That’s the most important trait of a leader. Ability to form a vision and pursue that vision with all the energy one has.
Even if others laugh at your perception of certain aspects of future, even if they think it’s absurd to even speak about your vision, you must keep in mind that you must start alone as a leader and that no person will share your thoughts right away.
Future is what’s interesting to leaders
Have you ever wandered why do today’s leaders constantly discuss the future of certain concepts or situations? The answer is rather simple.
The future is the major focus of every leader. They are just making their way to achieve their vision.
This trait is essential to great leadership as it is the one thing that defines leaders the most. What is your view of your future? How do you see your family or your community in ten years from today? If you had thoughts about these issues you have already developed some traits of a leader.
Leaders are goal oriented
You won’t get anywhere if you don’t have your goals set. Leaders not only dare to dream. Leaders pursue their dreams with zeal and with a clear direction about where they are going and how they are getting their.
Their vision is also their goal, and they are aware that to achieve a goal they must brake it in smaller goals. Those smaller goals act as signs on the highway. That way leaders never lose directions and their vision acts as a fuel.
