Heart disease prevention
By admin | November 9, 2007
Not so long ago people were ignorant of heart diseases, as so small number suffered from heart diseases. It was a time when people didn’t rush so much, life wasn’t so stressful, and there was no fast food.Life conditions have changed dramatically since then, we don’t walk anymore-we drive, we don’t eat healthy-we eat fast food, and the stressors are everywhere around us slowly destroying our ability to enjoy life.
It became clear, some time ago that modern way of life is not only reducing our capacity to live as we should be, but it’s also full of heart disease risks. Fortunately, it’s not all that bleak, because heart disease prevention is not something that will require superhuman efforts.
Although heart disease prevention will require some of your will and discipline, it’s essential to take the situation seriously and start preventing heart disease now, not in a few feeks or years from now.
Start with your eating habits
Avoid all types of fast food, they don’t call them junk food for nothing. Hamburgers and french fries are full of saturated fats that are more than likely to cause a heart disease. If you have to eat fast food, do it in special occasions, but throw it out of your regular diet. Instead of fatty fast food chose foods rich in fibers such as fruits and vegetables.
Don’t eat a meal without either fruits or vegetables, create a habit that will keep your heart healthy, and your life longer.
Try to avoid salty foods and salt in general because sodium makes your body hold on to fluids and therefore makes your heart work even harder. You should also avoid consummation of canned and processed food for the same reason. If you have a heart problem discuss salt substitutes with your family doctor.

Eat more fruits and vegetables and less saturated fat.
You should develop another useful habit-watching food labels. All the information about fat, protein, sodium, minerals and fibers is on those labels. Keep yourself informed about what is good for the health of you heart and what can damage your heart.
Don’t smoke
No matter how many times you heard smoking is bad. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease. Smokers’ risk of developing coronary heart disease is 2–4 times that of nonsmokers.
Visit your doctor often
Visiting your doctor on regular basis is by far the best policy when it comes to heart disease prevention. Fatality of heart diseases or any type of disease would be cut in half only if we had kept visits to our doctors frequent.
