Problem solving skills

By admin | August 28, 2007

The world will be a much better place when you realize that solving problems, of any kind or shape requires skill. Problem solving just as any other skill can be developed. You weren’t born as a biker or a driver.

You had to learn how to ride a bike and you had to learn how to drive a car. It took you some practice and some time. We are all lucky because its the same with problem solving skills.

You need to create a mind frame thats focused on solutions. It’s the first step when it comes to problem solving.

You have to become focused on solutions and solutions alone. When a problem occures don’t think about the difficulties that problem brought, don’t waste time reflecting on what could have been, keep your focus on the solution of the problem.

People oriented on solutions are constantly searching for new ways to tackle their obstacles. And over time their problem solving skills grow to the highest level, and usually they start enjoying solving problems

Sometimes people define success through problem solving skills. That view has its limitations but the fact remains. Improving your problem solving skills will help your chances of success in any field from love to business.

You will greatly improve your problem solving skills if you just to take a systematic and rational approach.

1. Identify the problem.

2. Understand your problem.

3. ‘Brake’ your problem in a few smaller ones.

4. Concentrate and generate ideas for the solution of your problem. (Ask yourself ‘how’ never ask yourself ‘why’.)

5. Pick the best idea (which is the best idea depends on the nature of your problem).

6.Make a plan (this does not mean you have to write a plan for the smallest problems).

7. Act on that plan.

8. Check if you have the desired outcome.

9.Reflect on is there a better way to solve a similar problem.

10. Improve!
