Healthy skin

By admin | August 25, 2007

Having a healthy skin is very important – not only for your better look, but for your inner self. Because we live in a world where pollution is a normal condition, we have to take care of our skin twice as better. Modern lifestyle leaves a little time for pampering ourselves and that is becoming more of the problem with each passing year.

The result of this is the look and health of our skin – our skin isn’t soft and glowing like before, and with age, skin becomes thinner and wrinkled. Taking good care of your skin — such as avoiding the sun, washing your skin gently and applying moisturizer regularly — can help delay the natural aging process and prevent many skin problems. These simple skin-care habits will help you protect your skin to keep it healthy and glowing for years to come.

1. Protect yourself from ultraviolet light. Since the sun rays damage skin, it becomes rough, dry and can be covered with liver spots. But, the sun rays can cause more serious conditions, such as noncancerous or cancerous skin tumors. Avoid going outdoors during high-intensity hours, usually between 11am – 4pm. Always use sunscreen. It is also good to wear long sleeves shirts, which would protect your body from ultraviolet light.

2. When washing your skin, always do it gently and use moisturizer. Use warm water and limit your time in the bath tub. Remove eye make up carefully and always use well known products. Don’t ever try to save money on make up because cosmetic products that are o law quality can cause skin damage.

3.  Don’t smoke. Smoking can accelerate the normal aging process of your skin, contributing to wrinkles. Smoking causes narrowing of the blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin. This decreases blood flow, depleting the skin of oxygen and nutrients, such as vitamin A, that are important to skin health. All of these factors increase damage to the elastic fibers and collagen which give your skin strength and elasticity.

4. Low temperature exposure can lead to skin damage. Always use products that are recommended by dermatologists. Many people who go skiing make a mistake of not putting sunscreen on their skin. That leads to the same damage that occurs in the summer time.
5. Sleep for at least 7 hours every night. Have you ever heard of beauty sleep?

6. Quality food such as fruits, vegetables and plenty of water help your skin feel healthy and young. Remember, it’s up to you to decide if you want to look 10 years younger, feel healthier and energized and live life the way it should be lived. With healthy and glowing skin!
