Clove and Clove oil

Clove is used in limited amounts in food products as a fragrant, flavoring agent, and antiseptic. It is widely produced and cultivated in Indonesia, Sri-Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Brazil . Clove was also approved as a topical antiseptic and anesthetic. It can be also added to tobacco.
Clove oil, like other plant oils, can be used in livestock to inhibit microbial fermentation in waste products.

Dosage for clove and clove oil has not been standardized.
Allergies have been reported. Clove can cause rash when used on skin or inside the mouth. Hives have been reported in clove cigarettes smokers, too.
